Fr. McCarthy Begins Ministry in the Eternal City

Medill News Service shares THIS article about Fr. Tom McCarthy, O.S.A.'s new ministry in Rome after his appointment to the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization. Fr. Tom is a priest of the Midwest Province and has ministered in the Order's educational apostolates as well as serving as Director of Vocations for the Midwest and Villanova Provinces. His new ministry now places him at the service of the universal Church, with his influence he will be able to better promote the many shrines and devotions of the Augustinian Order- especially to his patroness, St. Rita of Cascia.

California Friars Attend LA Religious Education Congress

The 2018 Los Angeles Religious Education Congress was well attended by the friars and institutions of the province. The Congress is a four day event, with the first day being a Youth Day. St. Augustine High School in San Diego participated by using the Youth Day as their Junior Class retreat, Fr. Kirk Davis, O.S.A., who serves as chaplain of the high school, was able to concelebrate Mass. In addition, Fr. Tom Davis, O.S.A. and Fr. Fr. Fernando Leads Lenten Retreat for OMGC Community

On Saturday, March 17th, Fr. Fernando Lopez, OSA, who serves as Associate Pastor at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Ojai, came to Our Mother of Good Counsel Parish in Los Angeles to give a three hour Lenten retreat for the Latino community of the parish. The retreat focused on three themes: our relationship with God, our relationship with others, and our relationship with ourselves. Fr. In Latin America this time of year is the academic summer during which students and people take time to travel and pursue recreation. Br. Robert Baiocco, OSA, currently on a pastoral year of service in Peru, took advantage of his summer experience to visit the historic Augustinian Monastery in Quito, Ecuador.
