Friars in formation with our province renewed their vows during a Vespers service on Monday, June 4th at the St. Augustine Monastery Chapel. The renewal of vows is an important step in the continued discernment of a friar as he continues to pursue his vocational journey with the Order.
In the service, six brothers renewed their vows: Br. Sarfraz Alam, OSA, Br. Adnan Ghani, OSA, Br. Mauricio Morales, OSA, Br. Arturo Renteria, OSA, Br. Dominic Smith, OSA, and Br. Maxime Villeneuve, OSA.
The renewal of vows takes place between the First Profession of Vows and the Solemn Profession of Vows of a friar. The friar must petition the Prior Provincial and his Council and request to be admitted to renew his vows. This represents that the discernment of a vocation is not limited to the friar alone, but that the community is also discerning alongside the friar and can affirm in him that the community feels that he is being called by God to religious life.
The Vespers service was led by Br. Mauricio, and the renewal of vows was presided over by Fr. Kevin Mullins, OSA, Prior Provincial of the Province.
